A 34-year old Brit has been rescued from the Atlantic ocean after a strange attempt to swim from France to New York. The man had been holidaying in Biarritz, a southern city in France, with his friends who he told about his plans. His friends had believed his bizarre suggestions to be a joke and allowed him attempt to go on the, 3,594 mile swim, to carry the Olympic Spirit across.Lifeguards watched as he swam, expecting him to return but had to go after him in a helicopter when he disappeared. They advised him to turn back but he replied saying he was a strong swimmer and would make it. After some more negotiations, the lifeguards then threw him a line and towed him back to the beach.
